ibis Styles Honfleur Centre Historique

Hon fleur is a lovely town, and we used it as a base to visit the Normandy beaches. I'd happily stay here again if we make that trip another time. The staff were fantastic. The person who checked us in was quick, efficient, friendly, and helpful, and fun to chat with in English, French, Spanish, and Philippine. The harbor is a minute away, beautiful to see, with lots of restaurants around it. For a regular bar, Maddie’s is just around the corner, with Happy Hour every day from 19-21. It's a standard IBIS Style hotel rather than a luxury place, but it has what you need for a basic stay. Our room had climate control, thick curtains, a regular bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Breakfast had a good spread of bread, croissants, yogurt, cold meat, and cheese. There's a coffee machine available all day at no charge, plus a small bar. There's plenty of parking, though prices vary, so check the cost before leaving your car.

The breakfast was very good, with fresh products and freshly squeezed orange juice. We slept comfortably in the beds, though we could hear the lift moving up and down from our room near it. Parking outside the hotel is run by the local authorities and can be pricey.

We'd booked seven months ahead and even got a confirmation email the night before, but when we arrived on the booked date the receptionist said there was no reservation under our name. We showed her evidence, including the confirmation number and our booking in the All Accor app. She insisted it didn't matter and said, “That’s the company’s fault not ours.” Are Ibis and Accor different companies? We're All Accor members with Silver status, and this was completely unacceptable. After we asked whether there was a room available, she said there was. So we had to suggest the solution ourselves? The argument went on for at least 20 minutes. I don't care what the hotel is like after this. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence or such poor customer relations. Somebody should lose their job or be given a job at McDonald’s that matches their level of ability, which is none. Shame on you, Ibis Styles and Accor. Do we look like we just got off of the banana boat? Totally unacceptable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. It's close to everything, and the breakfast buffet had a good range of choices. Parking takes a bit of figuring out: it's 12 euros a day directly in front, 23 euros across the street, or 6 euros about 400 meters away.
