Camping Vert Gapeau

The pool is okay, and the slides are still fun, but it was dirty. The campsite is nicely shaded if you get lucky. Even though they ask for your tent dimensions when you book, pitches aren't reserved, so people set up wherever they like, and many use the pitches to park their vehicles. The restrooms were dirty, with no toilet paper or soap and no separate sink cubicles, so people end up using the shower stalls to brush their teeth or freshen up. The grocery shop was practically nonexistent, and I never saw it open. The bar and restaurant were the worst part: the waiters were incompetent and disrespectful. There's almost no entertainment, and the staff's friendly atmosphere is best avoided unless you're a regular. The price is unjustified.

We're regulars here, so it was a letdown to see the campsite getting DETERIORATED this year. For what we pay, it no longer feels worth it. The entertainment at the pool and in the evenings was poor: the entertainers weren't pleasant, there was no atmosphere, the themes were lousy, and they repeated the same thing twice in one week. The bar is very expensive, €5 for a waffle, and they don't take card payments under €15. The managers aren't friendly either. Cleanliness was a little better, except the shared bathrooms, which weren't cleaned twice a day as they should be, in the morning and evening. They hadn't been cleaned for 2-3 days.

The water park has enough for both children and adults, and the mobile home and its terrace are a good size. One small issue: the terrace stairs can't be closed off, which is a worry if you have a toddler just starting to walk. It could have been cleaner, but nothing too serious. A great campsite.

The children's equipment is great, well secured and supervised, and the outdoor areas are really nice. The entertainment is fairly varied and friendly too. But the campsite feels stuck in the 80s. The restaurant is atrocious, with poor quality food, little choice, and prices that are high even for a campsite. Our mobile home was noisy and creaked everywhere, including the door handles. Parking was difficult, and after all the maneuvering, scratches were hard to avoid. At over €900 a week, it wasn't worth it.
