Hôtel Restaurant du Chasseur

The location wasn’t ideal, though there are bakeries and restaurants around, and the nearby A line tram runs to the city centre. The building is pretty old, but the rooms were alright. Staff were kind and helpful in both the hotel and restaurant, and someone could always speak English or understand my poor French. Breakfast was nice, and the tarte flambée I had for dinner was filling and cheap.

It was wonderful to have dinner at the restaurant and see its history. My family ran it in the 30s and 40s: my mother, Yvonne, and my grandparents, Karl and Caroline Mertz. My wife and I came all the way from Greenbelt, Md. USA to visit cousins. The food and service were excellent.

I stopped in for lunch. The staff were pleasant and efficient, and the fresh food tasted great. The desserts were excellent and inventive.

The service wasn’t very good, but the restaurant’s Tartes Flambés are really tasty. It’s a local dish, a bit like pizza, with much thinner dough, cream cheese, lots of onion and bacon. One costs around 8 €.
