The setting is picturesque, but it’s really in the middle of nowhere. We paid €36 a night including electricity, which felt far too expensive. The power kept cutting out, and although it’s meant to be 10 amp, my meter showed 1 amp. There was a septic tank smell the whole stay, unbearable. The toilets and showers are old, with no toilet paper or hand wash. The restaurant barely has any choice, just three mains, and a burger with a few fries costs over €20. Maybe they’ve stopped caring because they’re selling the campsite.

The receptionist’s daughter was very nice and speaks English. The bath and shower room were okay, but the toilets had no paper or seats. It’s fine for one night, though it could be better. There are two railway lines very close by. If you enjoy train spotting, you’ll love the views and sound of the high-speed TGV going past about 500 metres away. We didn’t like it.

We had an amazing time at the balloon festival, which we hadn’t even known was happening. The pitch itself wasn’t great, with a sewage or bad-water smell, and it was near a train line where trains roared past every 10-15 minutes. We arrived at 3 pm hoping to eat, but there was only one meal available, turkey with mushroom sauce and rice for €15. I don’t like that, and there was nothing else to choose.

The facilities are old, though the sanitary block was clean. The receptionist doesn’t speak English, so draw your own conclusion about whether that matters to you. The campsite has a lovely view and is generally quiet, but the TGV passes fairly close and breaks the silence every so often.

It was a nice location and very quiet. The toilets were clean, but there wasn’t much toilet paper, so bring your own.
