La Maison sur la Sorgue - Esprit de France

The host made arriving by car painless, taking care of the vehicle despite access being a bit tricky. From there, it was easy to enjoy the great location near shops, bars, restaurants, and towns worth visiting during the day. The rooms are really comfortable, and the art throughout the B&B gives it a lovely, carefully put-together feel. Our host was warm and genuinely helpful. A wonderful stay, and a real hidden gem.

Staying in the Shadow Suite with my family of four adults was a treat: plenty of room, very comfortable beds, and a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower. Frédéric was patient and attentive throughout, answering all our many questions and sorting out the tricky parking garage himself. Having that parking was essential for us. The hotel feels like an intimate art gallery, with a welcoming, stylish atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and fresh, with pastries, eggs, fruit, and coffee or espresso made to order, served outside. It was a lovely way to begin each morning. Right in the village center, La Maison Sur La Sorgue puts you straight into the Sunday market on Market Day. We also used it as a base for St. Remy, Lourmarin, and Gordes. We visited for a weekend in early August and found the place full of Provence’s artistic character. Frédéric’s personal kindness made it memorable, and we’d gladly recommend it.

We spent a quiet afternoon on the wooden terrace by the plunge pool, then enjoyed breakfast in the courtyard garden. The house is beautifully restored, with spacious, comfortable rooms and decor featuring eastern artefacts and photography. Everyone was polite and unobtrusive. After our long trip, delayed flight, and stressful hire car pickup, Frederic’s warm welcome made a big difference. He guided us to the house, parked our car, offered us a chilled glass of rosé, and sent us to a restaurant he’d booked for us. It was lovely. I can’t recommend this place more highly.

We stayed in a room with a terrace, a welcome spot to rest after a full day of walking. Each night, the owners suggested restaurants and made reservations for us, and every recommendation was wonderful. On weekends, opening the door puts you right into the street market, which made the location feel especially memorable. Inside, the restored stone house is beautiful, with soft lighting, candles in smoky glass cloches, and gentle R&B playing as you come in. Our room was thoughtfully appointed, right down to the herbal tea left at turndown. Breakfast was elegantly laid out on French linens. The proprietors were excellent hosts and clearly know how to entertain guests. La Maison Sur La Sorgue made for a wonderful weekend in Provence, and I’d recommend it for an authentic French experience.
