Le Pavillon

The breakfast was fantastic, just what we needed before a good hike, and the owner was friendly but discreet. We were very happy with our one-night booking in August. The building itself is lovely, and the room was clean, cozy, nicely decorated, and practical. It’s easy to walk to the city center, Fenestre Park, and the Casino.

For the price, I expected much more and came away very disappointed. The shower was so tiny I couldn’t bend down to reach my toes. The bedroom curtains let in enough light to make it feel like full daylight, the pillowcase had black marks, and the towels barely absorbed anything. Everything seemed stretched to the limit except the price, which was far too high.

The owners gave us a very warm, friendly welcome, and having the town center and a playground nearby was a real plus. Still, some small maintenance issues, including cracked paint and sealant that needs replacing, affected my rating. In summer, I’d avoid a street-facing room: there can be traffic noise and exhaust, pedestrians and revelers, and strong afternoon heat in the room.

I was disappointed by the hosts’ local advice, since they didn’t know the area well enough to help us. Breakfast cost €9, but the selection was very basic, with bread rolls, a standard baguette, a frozen croissant, and hot chocolate powder. Too much food was left on the tables, which led to a lot of waste. The rooms were clean but very small, the bathroom was adequate, and we heard noise from upstairs. There were no blackout curtains.
