Hostellerie du Château les muids

The hotel has a classy interior with lots of charm, and sits somewhere quiet without feeling too remote. The staff were very helpful and considerate.

The food was very good, but the prices were strikingly high. On our first stay, two of us had an aperitif, dinner with a nice but not quite convincing red Bourgeuil from the Loire, and breakfast, and paid €310. That felt outrageous for the quality. A week later, on the return trip, we skipped the aperitif, starters, desserts and breakfast, but the additional costs for two still came to €155. The rooms are basic too, with narrow, creaky beds and no charging sockets near them. It's a nice hotel for a stop along the way.

My room was comfortable and thoughtfully arranged, and the landscape is beautiful. I was welcomed warmly and enjoyed my stay at Chateau les Muids. At dinner, I ordered only the Salmon appetizer, which was delicious, but then the waitress brought me duck that I hadn't ordered. She spoke only French, so it was hard to sort out; she seemed to say the duck was complimentary. I worried it would end up on my bill, and it did, but management removed it at checkout the next day. I'd recommend Chateau les Muids.

We've stayed here many times and keep coming back for the quiet, peaceful hotel and grounds. It's dog friendly too.
