B&B HOTEL Cherbourg

The receptionist was really nice, and breakfast was fine. The location works if you’re catching the car ferry, though there’s not much else nearby. Our room was so basic it felt like a parking space, and the corridors are outdoors. The bed was barely a mattress, more like sleeping on a cardboard box. The shower curtain kept touching my bum, and it had stains that weren’t mine. I couldn’t lock the door properly from inside, but you needed the code to get in, so I felt safe enough for the night.

The EV chargers were fantastic. They took the car from 25% to 100% while the staff sorted out our room, and reception were very helpful despite limited English. They also gave us a full refund without any trouble. We’d booked the last family room, but its door handle wasn’t working properly. We were told about it at reception, then had to wait in the car with the family while they tried to fix it, with the possibility of splitting the kids across two rooms if they couldn’t. We booked the last family room at the nearby Ibis instead. The problem could have been avoided if the handle had been fixed during the day, but the Ibis was a big upgrade and the kids were happy.

We needed a cheap place to rest after a long drive, and being near Brasserie Marcel's for the evening and McDonald's for the kids’ breakfast was handy. There were damaged windows in a second-floor room and by the ground-floor dining area. Hopefully it happened recently and will be fixed soon, but it gives the establishment a bad impression.

A clean, quiet, warm place, and the room was serviced every day. The male receptionist we met was very friendly and spoke English. Parking felt safe, with cameras. Recommended for a short stay 👌
