Camping RCN Les Collines de Castellane

We were just passing through and stayed one night. The pitch was a good size, and the shower and toilet facilities were clean and in good shape. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and all spoke good English, so I didn’t get to try out my terrible French. I ate at the restaurant, where the food was first class.

We stayed here for 3 days, and they provided only one roll of toilet paper. When I contacted the counter staff, they had finished work at 5 o’clock, so I followed the instructions and contacted the hotel staff. They asked me to pay for more. I don’t think that’s reasonable.

The views here are outstanding, and Castellane is a lovely little town with everything you need. The location also works well for visiting the French Alps and the coast, though Cannes was disappointing. We spent an excellent 10 days in one of the cabins. Ours was modern and well cared for, the pool was great and surprisingly warm, and the staff were really friendly and spoke English, which was a bonus. I think the pool could get a bit busy in high season. The site is steep and terraced, so walking uphill for bread in the morning was a challenge in my 70s, but manageable, even if I needed a few minutes before talking to the shop assistant.

On our motorhome trip around France, this has easily been our favourite campsite. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, and our pitch had stunning views of the mountains and forest. It was peaceful, and the pool was lovely and spotless, as were the showers. We ate at the restaurant too. The staff were helpful again, and the food was gorgeous. Castellane nearby was absolutely stunning. Thank you so much. X
