Breakfast the next morning had plenty of variety and tasted good. We'd definitely stay here again on the same trip, though I regret not booking it for the return journey too. We stayed one night on the way from Cherbourg to Capbreton, with our daughters aged 11 and 8, in a family room. After a tiring day on the road, we found a beautiful hotel with friendly staff. The room was a lovely size, spotless, and stylish. We also had a very nice evening meal in one of the hotel's two restaurants. We already have other plans, so we won't be in the area on our way back.

The grey-black room was a terrible choice, so dark and uninviting. At least the receptionists made the stay better. Cédric was welcoming, and Barbara handled checkout warmly and professionally.

The breakfast buffet is as good as ever, with a huge range of food. We were lucky to have good weather during our 12-night stay in July, so we could eat at the tables in the rear courtyard. The new "Monkey Place" bar takes up too much of the breakfast area, in my view. When it's busy, guests have to eat at small, low tables meant for two, which isn't comfortable. The courtyard becomes a restaurant in the evening, but we usually prefer the many restaurants in the town centre, just a couple of hundred yards away. Our favourite is Le Pas Sage, where Steph and Claire make you feel welcome. This was my first visit since Covid, though I've stayed here five or six times before. The rooms are a good size, with en-suite bathrooms, walk-in rain showers, a handbasin, and a WC. The large double bed is comfortable, and extra pillows are provided. There's also a mini fridge with a complimentary bottle of water. The rooms are clean and well maintained, and the staff are pleasant and helpful.

After the long trip to the Vandée, it was a welcome relief to find helpful staff eager to assist in English. The hotel seems to be the most modern place in town, and everything feels new. There are two places to eat, and the location is great.
