Chambres d'Hôtes Eden Ouest

The hotel had flooded and couldn’t take us, but the late notice made the situation really stressful. We’d asked for an early check-in at 4 p.m. because we were travelling with our four-month-old baby. When we first arrived, we called and got no answer, so we walked around town expecting to check in later. At 5:30 p.m. they called to say they couldn’t accommodate us. They didn’t offer any help finding somewhere else, which made for a very difficult evening.

There’s no air conditioning, which only became an issue during the ‘canicule’ while we were there. We’re from the north of the northern hemisphere, so that heat caught us out, but fans were provided in the room. We parked right outside. The suite was beautiful and well placed for the best bars, shops and restaurants. The host was welcoming, breakfast was fresh and lovely in the outdoor courtyard, and the steam-room shower was a nice extra.

This was our second stay at Eden Ouest La Rochelle. It’s right in the heart of La Rochelle, but inside the property it’s very quiet. Parking is available a 10-15 minute walk away. The staff are excellent and very helpful, and the rooms are large and well furnished. There’s no air conditioning, but fans are available if needed. We enjoyed the breakfast and had a great stay.

We loved La Rochelle so much on our first visit that we’ve decided to come every year. We’ll definitely return to Eden Ouest. It’s a fantastic place in the historic centre, near the wonderful market. The house is beautiful and full of artwork. When we visited in June 2022, there was an exhibition by a local artist. Our room was comfortable, well equipped and opened onto a magical garden. Léa and Bertrand made us feel incredibly welcome. Breakfast was magnificent, with cheese and ham, eggs, fresh bread and croissants.
