B&B HOTEL La Rochelle Centre les Minimes

Rooms were clean and tidy, about what you’d expect from a good chain hotel. This place is a cracker, so there’s no need to pay more than you have to around here.

The staff spoke fluent English and were friendly when I checked in. The location is south of the old harbor, just a few minutes away by car. There’s a large, modern underground garage, and I’d use it since street parking is very limited, though parking there is paid. My room was small, with very basic furnishings and little space for toiletries. The bathroom was tidy, but the shower door’s plastic seals were dirty and need replacing, as do the edges around the bathroom entrance. Facilities are limited, and the rooms are small. Bathroom hygiene could be better. If you’re not expecting much from an overnight stay, it may suit you.

The hallway carpet has a bad smell. The reception area is sparse, though it seems clean. Happily, the room itself looked pleasant and clean, with hardwood floors.

Breakfast choices were limited, with nothing hot apart from toast, and there wasn’t tea or coffee in the room either. The location was okay, not far from Vieux Port.
