The location was great, and the restaurant looked excellent, though we didn't get to dine there. We'd booked late and were told the dining room was full, then at checkout were asked why we hadn't used the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were great, especially Bastion. The room felt a little tired, with a few lights out and some worn flooring and chairs. I had to ask for shampoo because the dispenser was empty and broken, and the milk sachets in the room weren't replenished.

We had a great time and would definitely return, even with the road crossing. The location is lovely, very near a sandy beach, and the gastronomic restaurant lived up to its name with a superb meal. The staff were efficient and helpful, and the venue was clean, tidy and looked the part. Our bedroom was stunning, with a big comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath, Italian shower, minibar and a superb private terrace. The main frustration was that nearly everything besides reception was across the road. That included the restaurant and breakfast bar, and the pool at our venue was marked temporarily closed for our whole stay. We could use the pool in the other complex, but that wasn't the same for a luxury break. Breakfast was perfunctory, more like an ordinary airport hotel, with weak filter coffee and a disappointing choice.

Our four-day romantic break was fantastic, which is unusual enough for me to give a full five stars. The hotel is linked to two others, so guests can use their extra swimming pools. It's centrally placed and quiet, a good base for exploring Ré by bike, with a lovely family beach 300 meters away and a surfer beach 500 meters away. Services are all available and high quality, including a superb spa with hammam and sauna, a beauty salon, and bike and e-bike rentals. Breakfast was excellent, with friendly, attentive service, and dinner is available at the hotel too. If you're hesitating, I'd say book without hesitation!
