Camping la Cascade

We stayed in our van and had a great winter camping trip. The facilities were clean and warm, and the staff were friendly. It’s an easy enough drive to the two main ski resorts, so we’ll definitely be back.

The welcome was so kind, and the campsite is lovely, tucked among the mountains. We stayed on 22/05/24, and found the facilities great, especially the hot showers and baby bath. It was the most reasonably priced of the three across the road. The pool was still out of season and the play area is a little small, but our 4-year-old rode around the campsite paths instead.

This is the only campsite open in winter for skiing, so there isn't much choice if it doesn't suit you. The facilities were clean, but in winter they felt lacking. There was only one toilet open, and just two shower cubicles. One shower had a broken timer tap that you had to keep pressing. Getting drinking water was awkward too, since the practical source was by the black-water disposal area. The owner or maintainer also told me dogs had to pee and poo outside the grounds. I wouldn't stay here, especially in summer.

The site was clean and quiet, and the service was helpful and informative. After check-in, staff noticed some no-shows and moved me to a pitch with more shade, which was much appreciated. You can order bread from the Boulangerie a day ahead, then pick it up at the shop by the pool the next morning.
