B&B Hotel Chartres Le Coudray

A decent place for one night. The room was small but did the job, and although it felt tired, it was clean.

We used the account to book ahead for both the outward and return trips from our holiday. The service at the desk was excellent, and they even asked if I wanted help unloading my motorcycle. As a bonus, we had the same room on both stays. Breakfast was better than last year too. Super, thank you.

We stayed here again in July 25 and had another good experience. It’s basic, clean, comfortable, and good value. Aldi is just across the road, so we picked up a few bottles of wine to take home. We also walked a short way to the restaurant almost next door for steak. We skipped breakfast to get an early start, but slept well and were rested. Being only a few metres from the main road meant we were on our way quickly. On our earlier trip back to Calais from the Dordogne, this was a good place to break up the drive. We had to use the door’s automatic check-in, which was no trouble, and our request for an accessible room had been taken care of. It was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom suited my partner’s needs. It’s basic, but for the price it was very good value.

The breakfast room felt much too small, and while the pastries were good, the milk and cheese ran out and weren’t replaced while I was there. The coffee machine used some kind of powdered milk, and the coffee tasted awful. The hotel itself is cheap and felt safe, but it needs refurbishing and wasn’t a pleasant place to stay. If you arrive in the middle of the afternoon, there may be no staff around. You have to use a very old, unfriendly machine to check in and get the codes for the front door and your room.
