Le Quai aux Fleurs

If you want a pleasant vacation, I’d avoid this place. We found out about restrictions day by day, none of them mentioned when we booked. At the pool, you can’t smoke, eat or drink, wear shoes (even pool shoes), play music, bring dogs, snorkels, fins, balls, or inflatables, or run, dive, jump, and roughhouse. Swim shorts are banned, while burkas are apparently allowed, which makes no sense. You can barely breathe there, as long as you don’t do it too loudly. The pool was very, very dirty, with black grout and no cleaning. Someone defecated in it, but it wasn’t emptied. Should health inspectors be notified? Losing the plastic pool wristband also means a €50 fine. I can’t imagine what they’d charge if it weren’t plastic. Parking was another problem. We were told booking with a trailer was fine, but when we arrived we were turned away because a non-motorized vehicle apparently doesn’t count as a vehicle. The lot is tiny, the spaces are small, and it’s packed 24/7, so good luck finding a spot. You’re lucky to leave without a scratch on your vehicle. In the apartment, make sure you leave the blind open. We nearly had a disaster: someone threw a beer bottle onto our second-floor terrace, where it shattered, then a rather thick salad bowl nearly hit our son on the head. Thank goodness we had a lucky star that day. There were also several small, black, fast-moving bugs scurrying around the apartment. Grrrrr. There’s no security at all. The gate and main entrance doors are wide open day and night, and the gates don’t close either. At 4 a.m., young people came to swim for an hour, yelling, diving, and doing cannonballs, but nobody came out to say anything. The residents complain all day, yet no one went to see what was happening. Surprising! You can’t even play pétanque in peace. The boat owners get annoyed by the clacking balls and kick you out, so you have to leave. The residents were disrespectful and rude, looking at tourists like we were lepers and complaining constantly, as soon as a tourist farts. They’re sharp-tongued, and it’s hard to feel comfortable. Tourists are treated very, very badly. I’ve never seen such hypocrites. No one even says hello, it’s pathetic. Criticizing people seems to be their favorite pastime. If there’s a problem, the president of the management company won’t find a solution. Her excuse is the pressure she’s under from residents. To me, this "Quai aux Fleurs" residence is like a retirement home. You’ll be fine if all you want is to relax and do nothing else. I wish you a pleasant holiday anyway. One star, unfortunately.
