Hôtel et Spa Vent d'Ouest

Breakfast was simple but more than enough, and Le Havre center is within walking distance. I had a comfortable, peaceful and pleasant short stay here. There's a beautiful church next door that I didn't get the chance to visit, though I'd like to if I'm back. I'd stay here again when visiting Le Havre.

Dinner came in a jar and was dry, tasteless and sad, especially for the price. The cheese and salad were good, though. One night, a staff member closed part of the lounge bar for “security reasons.” It seemed she just didn't want more people coming in, since that area had been open to guests on the other nights. When we called to book, we asked whether two children could be added and were told yes. We also asked about parking and got a yes. But the room was so tiny we couldn't even use a suitcase, and the bathroom was cramped for four. There was no air conditioning, which was awful in such a tight space with four people. We asked several times for another room and were happy to pay extra. They found two rooms they said they'd book after the weekend, but when we returned from a day out, nothing had been booked and there was no availability. The staff member said she couldn't help because the manager wasn't there, and when we asked her to call, she said the manager wasn't available. We were charged for four while getting service for two. The parking information was also misleading. There is paid parking nearby, and apparently two of the hotel's tight parking spaces can be reserved, but nobody mentioned that or asked us to reserve one. We ended up paying for parking. Paying wasn't the issue, but the way we were drawn in felt deceitful and unprofessional.

The staff were especially nice and cooperative. They supported us as much as they could. It's a very nice hotel.

It was clean and comfortable, though the room layout feels like it was designed by a man. Why put all the lights by the window? There should be lighting near the mirrors, with a plug close by for a hairdryer.
