Domaine de la Courbe Hôtel & Spa

The property is fabulous, with lots of space to walk and enjoy nature, and it’s very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are modern and everything was clean. We had dinner at the restaurant once, and both the food and service were excellent. Breakfast had plenty of choices. The spa amenities, including the sauna and jacuzzi, were available at no extra cost. I also had a relaxing express facial at a reasonable price. English is spoken by very few people here, with just one fluent staff member, but everyone was pleasant and helpful, and Google Translate helped. A few things could be improved: there’s no AC, so a fan in each room would help, and pool towels would be useful. The pool furniture could use an update, and small tables by the pool would be nice.

We stopped for one night, had a really good dinner in the restaurant, and got to enjoy the excellent spa facilities.

Avoid this place. We checked in on June 3, expecting a spa hotel, but the pool wasn’t open. We were told spa access cost €35 per person for a two-hour slot and had to be booked. Since it was after 4.00, the earliest slot was 10.00 the next morning, when we had to check out by 12.00. Dinner was a disaster. The salmon mousse looked like dog sick, there was a black hair in my wife’s salad, and the sirloin came already cut up and was as tough as old boot leather. Back in room Isle 4, we found there was no water for a shower. Then we discovered the bed was infested with bed bugs. I reported it to the owner, who offered us another room, but we declined and left faster than I’ve ever left a hotel. Update 14/06/2024: After we got home from our holiday in France, we found we’d been charged for our stay at the Domaine de la Courbe. I called the hotel and was told the meal and drinks wouldn’t be charged, as compensation for the bed bugs. They said that because we booked through hotels .com, the room was under a no-cancellation policy and they wouldn’t refund it, even though we couldn’t use it because of the bed bugs. We complained to Hotels.com, whom I’d used for years, and were told today that nothing could be done. I won’t use them again either. The hotel was an absolute disgrace, and Hotels.com should be ashamed of still promoting it when it’s bed bug infested and ripping customers off.

The location is beautiful, and the staff are nice and helpful. Breakfast doesn’t have much choice, though everything is freshly made and tasty. We ate at the restaurant once and enjoyed the good, unfussy food. The massage we booked was done professionally. The room really needs renovating, especially the toilet and shower. The air conditioning barely worked. The spa was dirty, the hammam smelled damp, and the sauna was broken. Those issues cost it two stars for me.
