We paid the full price for our Booking.com reservation in advance and got confirmation from the host with instructions for entering the apartment. But then they asked for a €300 deposit to send the final access code. That deposit wasn’t mentioned in the Booking.com listing, so we declined and stayed somewhere else. From our point of view, this is fraud, and we’re extremely disappointed by the experience on a platform like Booking.com that we considered reliable and high quality.

*READ ALL* We used the apartment for a one-night stopover. The neighborhood and outside of the building looked a bit sketchy, but don’t let that put you off: inside, the apartment was really nice, tastefully furnished, and had everything we needed. I never met the host, but we contacted them by email and WhatsApp, and the responses we got were good.

The sofa bed and the area around it were dirty, and the bed itself was in poor condition. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly either. When we complained, we were accused of stealing cushions, and €150 was taken from my credit card. Avoid!!!!

The apartment itself was fabulous once we got in. Getting through the entrance and up the stairs was a bit tricky.
