Hotel le Mouton Blanc

We came across this busy restaurant by chance after touring the abby. There were six of us, and they found room for our group despite the crowd. The servers were friendly and the food was good. The menu is limited, so it won’t suit anyone looking for lots of variety, but we all enjoyed our meals and would recommend it. It’s on the busy main pedestrian street. We weren't staying at the hotel.

The lamb cassoulet was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, with a generous portion of white beans, tasty jus, and toasted breadcrumbs. It came with three lamb preparations: bone-in shoulder, sliced smoked lamb sausage, I think, and lamb sausage. I also tried the skate wing and prawns over capers, Lima beans, tomatoes, and croutons. That was tasty too, though I liked the lamb more. We stopped in for lunch after visiting Mont St Michel, and among all the menus we looked at, this was the only one with a lamb dish that caught our interest, since lamb is common in the area. We were so glad we chose it. Service was prompt and pleasant. Nicolas and Laure took great care of us, and thanks to Chefs Malcom & Smith for an amazing local lunch. Highly recommend!

The food was nice and we had a good meal overall, but the waitress was very rude. She spoke arrogantly to people who sat down without asking first. If that rule matters to the restaurant, they should post it at the entrance. Everywhere I’ve traveled, people sit down unless told otherwise, though clearly the other guests left. Another guest told her the behavior was rude and that tourists might not know they need to wait for a server in France. She replied that this is how things work in France. She also made us wait a long time despite many empty tables, walking around and wiping several tables while we could have been seated. When we asked, she said, “be patient”. It’s a shame when staff give a good restaurant such a bad feel.

The staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was fresh, tasty, and interestingly cooked, with generous portions. It’s popular, so book for dinner since it can get busy.
