Mercure Le Touquet

It did what we needed, and the outdoor area looked lovely, though it would have been nicer in warmer weather. The only downside, which I knew about when booking, is that it’s a 40-minute walk from town, so we had to take a few cab rides.

The room and bathroom were spotless, the beds comfortable, and the temperature just right. All the equipment worked properly. It’s a very pleasant hotel in a good spot, with helpful, friendly staff. It’s new, but clearly well looked after. The only thing missing was milk, so pick some up in the Flexi plus lounge on your way.

A good base if you have a car, though it’s a solid 40-minute walk to Le Touquet beach. The new hotel is beautiful, with attractive rooms, bar, restaurant and shared areas. Staff were friendly. Bar service was a bit uneven, but the restaurant service and food were good.

I booked based on two things, air conditioning and parking. Parking was available, but the air-conditioning unit in the room was locked off and couldn’t be used. The hotel lists air conditioning in rooms without saying it’s seasonal, so I was very disappointed that it wasn’t available. After a seven-hour drive, we found out at check-in on Sunday that the restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday. Since the hotel is out on its own, we had to drive into Le Touquet to eat. I also tried to book a manicure at the spa during opening hours, but there was nobody at the desk and I couldn’t find any staff. I gave up after 15 minutes. Breakfast was just adequate. They ran out of scrambled eggs on the first day, and it took 15-20 minutes to make more. Staff were friendly enough when we managed to find someone, though they seemed a bit disinterested.
