La Grange de Marcillac

There were spiders and cobwebs everywhere, and no barbecue despite it being advertised. We couldn't get a Wi-Fi code either. The staff were unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. My four-year-old daughter tried several times to talk to the woman, but was turned away each time. Extremely disappointing.

The cooking workshop was even better than we expected. Mireille had us do all the steps, from chopping and handling to cooking, and explained everything along the way. She answered our many questions, shared her extensive experience, and gave us plenty of time to take notes. We came for a "duck cooking" stay and left absolutely delighted. The host is incredibly kind, a fantastic cook, and took great care of us. The setting is peaceful and charming, very much of the Lot region: a beautifully renovated 19th-century building on the Quercy Blanc plateau, in a quiet hamlet of 17 inhabitants at the end of a dead-end road. Many thanks to Mireille for a memorable, informative weekend. Mickaël and Céline.

We're coming back to Les Granges de Marcillac for the third time, and we're already looking forward to the next visit. We never tire of the quiet, bucolic setting, Mireille's kindness and availability, or her delicious cooking. The idea came up while planning our vacation: 'What if we spent a few days at Mireille's?'

The hygiene here is questionable, and the price doesn't match the service. Best to keep walking and avoid the place.
