Hotel Marielle

We spent seven days and eight nights at Hotel Marielle in Val Thorens. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a trendy but cozy interior. Our room was clean and well cared for, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I have nothing but praise for those parts of our stay. The food, though, was a real disappointment this year, 2026. Breakfast and dinner both lacked flavor and variety, and the dishes seemed poorly prepared. The meat was overcooked every day, as were the bacon and potatoes. We were served almost the same things day after day. :) That was a big change from last year, 2025, when meals were one of the highlights. The food was flavorful and varied, and seemed to be made with much more care. One day there was sushi, another day fries with delicious red meat cooked just right, plus a good range of vegetables and other dishes. Please make a serious improvement to the food for 2027. It really detracts from what is otherwise an excellent hotel.

The staff were very helpful, and the rooms felt quite large by French Alps standards. We’d read plenty of comments about noise before arriving, but that wasn’t our experience at all. This has been the best hotel I’ve stayed in so far, and it’s very welcoming to kids. We’ll definitely return the next time we choose Val Thorens.

There’s a kids’ room next to the bar with a pool table, two arcade machines, and a ping pong table. The bar has all sorts of drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic, and more. Our room was cozy and had a great view, but it was on the small side, especially when it came to finding space for luggage. The staff were very nice.

We spent New Year’s week here as a family of four. The location is hard to beat: you can ski in and out, and the ESF ski school meeting point is right in front of the hotel. There’s a nice bar with a kids’ playroom beside it. Our room was cozy and had a beautiful view, but felt a bit too small. Finding room for all our bags was a challenge. The staff stayed super friendly and professional despite the pressure of the busy New Year’s Eve week.
