Hôtel Le Castillan

We booked this hotel looking forward to a great ski trip, but had to cancel because of family circumstances. Through Booking.com, we asked for a refund of the 50% we'd paid and never received any reply or reaction at all. I hate using reviews to give a place a bad rap, but this felt completely inconsiderate and non-communicative, with no apparent interest in looking after guests. That's why I'm giving two stars. We've had similar situations before in South Africa, both with family circumstances and later with COVID closures. We told those places to keep the money, since there wasn't government support like in France, where you got fully reimbursed for your losses, but they still refunded us 100%. The owners here could at least have replied to say the contract didn't allow a refund or explain their position. I hope they enjoy the money and my investment in their hotel. Chapeau.

The team worked tirelessly from the time we arrived until we left, and went out of their way to handle an unexpectedly early start caused by road closures. The breakfast spread for that morning was amazing. We had clean, spacious rooms, very good food, cold beer, and a stunning view. There was secure storage for bikes and other gear too. I organized a cycling tour for 46 people, and it's always a challenge finding very good hotels for the group. This one was extremely good, and they honored our booking despite the challenges caused by the Marmotte moving. The food was first class and tasty. It's such a special hotel, and I'll definitely bring my family back so they can see what a great place it is.

The service was fantastic, and our superior comfort room with a balcony had an incredible view. Le Castillan has a lovely family feel and is good value for money. Breakfast was plentiful, with fresh fruit, breads, cakes, pastries, yogurt and eggs, and the coffee was delicious. We had an amazing holiday and will definitely be back. I'd recommend it.

After a day of snowboarding, the small spa was relaxing and smelled lovely. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast buffet was pretty nice with lots of options. There were plenty of board and card games in the bar too, including a wooden Monopoly board that looked really nice.
