Mountain Chalet

Tim was helpful, positive, and quick to respond throughout the booking, especially when weather problems in France meant we arrived many hours later than planned. We spent New Year 2023/24 at Mountain Chalet as three families, 13 people in all, and never had to queue for showers or toilets. The chalet was spacious, and the self-catering kitchen had everything we needed. With three families cooking, we just took turns. The sauna and Jacuzzi got used every day, and the small bath was just right for easing tired muscles some evenings. I liked the setting away from the other chalets but still within walking distance of town. The steep track up is manageable, though we usually took the longer, gentler route back down. We only walked up to town once, making the most of the Free Bus. You can see it coming up the hill from the balcony, which helps cut the wait, and being near its first stop meant we always got a seat. For another big group trip, I wouldn't look anywhere else.

We booked the catered option and got breakfast, afternoon cakes, dinner, and wine. The food was delicious, and there was probably enough for twice our group of seven. Booking was easy, and the owners quickly answered questions and offered useful advice, from airport transfers to the best time to ski Le Tunnel. The chalet has everything you could want, including boot dryers, Sky TV, a sauna, and a hot tub. It's very handy for the slopes, with plenty of space and a huge dining table for post-ski meals and drinks. The balcony and hot tub both have breathtaking views. We just got back from a week here, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Alpe D’Huez.

We chose the in-house catering and really enjoyed the range of meals for different tastes. Mountain Chalet has modern, comfortable, spacious rooms and a hot tub that's a welcome treat after skiing. It's also near shops for everyday essentials and a stop on the free bus route into the village centre. We just returned from a wonderful week in Alpe d'huez, with stunning mountain views from the chalet. We'd certainly recommend staying here.

The catered meals were generous and really tasty, and we loved our week so much that we started counting down to the return trip. Mountain Chalet was a great place to relax, unwind, and spend time together, with uninterrupted views over the mountains and valley and a brilliant hot tub. Huge thanks to our hosts, Tim and Sara.
