The pool and service area were nice, though they could have been cleaner, and the staff were pleasant. There was plenty to keep the kids occupied. The beach was muddy more than sandy, though. Nighttime was the hard part, with people, loud cars and shouting making it far from peaceful.

The kids had a good time, but what about that beach? The toilets have been renewed, though there were lots of spider webs. It was noisy in the middle of the night. The information desk listed places to eat, but they were closed and we couldn’t buy anything. At 75 € a night for a family with a dog, it was expensive.

We'd booked three nights, but left after just one. The beach was very muddy and not nice, and the night was really noisy. The toilets and other facilities were dirty, and it looked like some people were living there. We tried to eat at the restaurant but were told it was fully booked, even though we saw two families inside and lots of empty tables. It also took 1 hour 45 minutes to get a pizza from the snack bar.

We had fun exploring the area, including a lovely restaurant in les moutiers en retz, a canoe trip we found through the tourist information, and some fishing in the harbour. It’s a good place to relax and enjoy nature, with nice walks nearby. Our pitch was a great size with good tree cover, though the beach was muddy rather than sandy. Most visitors were French, with some British, German and Dutch guests. Since we needed a place in mid-August, we paid in advance, and eventually chose to leave a day early because of the weather forecast. We couldn’t get a refund. We were unlucky with some other guests: the toilet and shower areas were cleaned often, but some people broke toilets and sinks, and left their waste beside the toilets instead of in them. It could have been dealt with more quickly. Fortunately there’s more than one shower block. Some local teenagers at the swimming pool also made the atmosphere worse, and that should be managed better.
