Ambiance Lavande

We spent a week in the new Gite, and for us it was just right. It’s well equipped and cleverly laid out, though it’s a quirky place by British standards and you do need to be comfortable sharing close quarters with your group. The setting is Les Parcs, a very quiet hamlet, with the village about five minutes away by car and other outings a little farther. If peaceful countryside is what you’re after, it’s hard to beat. Family life is at the heart of the place. Patrick and Marianne are fantastic hosts, somehow full of energy even through a busy summer. Breakfast each morning was so generous that lunch hardly seemed necessary, and everyone’s needs were taken care of. We chose dinner at the Domaine every evening: three courses, plus a traditional family game that made for the sort of memories that stick. There’s plenty of food, lovely stargazing, and things to do for all ages. A week was lovely, though we’d happily have stayed longer.

Those little activities made the week especially fun: collecting eggs with Patrick, marshmallows by the fire with a game, a puzzle hunt around the property, water games, and pétanque and shuffleboard between meals. The enthusiastic planning kept things small-scale and cozy, and our kids, aged 4, 7, and 10, had a great time in the big garden and pool. Patrick and Marianne also had useful suggestions for nearby outings. Our favorite was the short, adventurous walk at Trou de Phillipou. We were five in the attic apartment, all in one room. It worked, but cooking for ourselves was awkward with such a small kitchen and dining table. We ordered breakfast and had three meals at the table d'hôtes. The food was delicious, readily adjusted for our vegetarian preferences, and very good value. We stayed with Patrick and Marianne at Domaine de Pamadera for a week in July 2025 and would love to return.

We had a lovely Chambre d’ Hotes room, with a really comfortable bed and a spacious, clean shower and toilet. The owners were so warm and welcoming, and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. We spent relaxed days by the pool, with plenty of nice outings to break them up. Breakfast and dinner were generous and well worth recommending. We’ll definitely be back. Tot de volgende keer!
