The breakfast by the fire was a lovely start to a snowy morning, with great coffee, eggs, ham, cheese, and a generous basket of bread and croissants. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff were warm and professional. The building sits in a beautiful setting, though it didn’t feel quite like a four-star hotel. Our room was very cold and took hours to warm up. There was no bath plug, so we had to use a shower that kept switching between hot and cold. We were fortunate to get one of the six free parking spots; otherwise, parking would have added 18 euros to the bill, which was the first time I’d seen that charge at a hotel outside a French town. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but you can walk to the neighboring Bistro du Bord de l'eau, which is stunning.

We asked for a refund or discount because the room was in an unacceptable state, but the manager offered only 10% off a future stay booked directly with the hotel, not through sites like Booking.com or hotel.com. The reply, signed by Ahmet, Golf Hotel Colvert's manager, listed a string of complaints we hadn’t made, including odors, noise from orchestras and guests, and problems with sheets, toilets, the bathroom, and terrace. The room we were given had dirty towels hanging in the bathroom, no clean towels or toilet paper, and a filthy floor. Reception offered another room, but its door had been left open, rubbish bags were on the floor, and the TV was on, so we turned it down. Both the hotel and the manager’s attitude were dire. This isn’t worthy of one star, let alone four. Avoid it.

The place itself was acceptable, but our tour group got a different breakfast service from individual guests. I asked for croissants and wasn’t given any, while the individual customers had plenty of bread and much better service. I strongly object to that.

It was quiet at night, which made for a good sleep, and we’d stay again while driving through France. The location does mean a bit of a drive to restaurants. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, and the service was great. Breakfast was good too.

A quiet, scenic spot surrounded by golf courses, close to Beaune. The hotel is small and cozy, with a pool and good facilities. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were professional and always ready to help. We’ll be back.
