The owner is such a wonderful person, which made the food quality all the more disappointing. We only ate dinner and it was the worst meal I’ve had in France in years. Nothing tasted good. The restaurant also feels short on class and design. I’m sorry to say it, especially with so many glowing reviews, but I don’t want someone else to have the same experience. If the chef were as good as the owner, this could be a Michelin restaurant. Don’t stay in the rooms.

The setting was incredibly calm and peaceful, and we had such an amazing stay. This is a family-run hotel with lovely people who made us feel very welcome and were happy to accommodate us. We enjoyed the spa and a massage, and dinner was delicious and excellent value.

We had such a happy evening on the large, romantic front terrace, with its stunning view. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Javier the Basque head waiter is one of a kind! The boss was kind and clearly a solid pro. YES 👍😋

We’re staying in Tremolat for a few months, and after so much wet weather we stopped at this hotel for coffee. They welcomed us so warmly. When I asked about the spa, someone showed me around, so I booked a 90-minute session for both of us with the jacuzzi, Hamman steam facility and sauna. Everything was excellent and spotlessly clean, and the whole team were friendly and helpful. The hotel has fantastic views too. We’ll come back for dinner, and I’ll return for a treatment or two. Thank you!

The view from our room and the dining tables was amazing, and I especially liked the apple juice from a local producer. Les Balcons des Esperances was a very pleasant stay, with super nice people and a recently renewed hotel, so our room was in good condition. The price felt worth it, and the location is perfect for exploring the Dordogne valley. I recommend it! The sunrise/sunset photo I posted here isn’t the best one, save it for your live watch 😉
