Campanile NATURE - Limoges Nord

I booked this hotel for a business trip, then realised the conference was on the other side of Paris and needed a room closer to the venue. Booking.com offered to waive its fees and asked the hotel to do the same, since it was an honest mistake. There was plenty of notice and it wasn’t high season. The hotel refused, charged me for two nights, and threatened legal action if I left a bad review. Booking.com sent several emails asking them to reconsider, but they remained determined to charge me. I’ve now paid for two hotels for two nights. They could have been accommodating at no cost to them, and I would have happily booked with them again in future. Their rude, inflexible response showed no understanding. Please think carefully before staying here. They seem willing to take advantage of customers and would rather keep 150 Euros than avoid a bad review.

Campanile hotels can be hit and miss, but this one was definitely a hit. It was very clean and tidy, with recent decor, and the newly refurbished restaurant served lovely food. The staff were friendly and spoke English, and there’s a large free car park.

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean with excellent beds. We had two big negatives, though. The second-floor rooms are reached by a spiral staircase, and despite each tread being about a metre wide, carrying a suitcase up it is difficult. Very poor planning. The €80 charge was too much. Unfortunately, the original Campanile Buffet menu is gone. The new menu is nowhere near as good, and prices are high. Lager costs more than in the UK. We definitely won’t return.

I paid 146.80 € for one room for one night and still didn’t get the matching invoice when I paid. I asked for it several times. The hotel is out in the middle of nowhere, and the service was poor. I’ve never come across a hotel that wouldn’t hand over an invoice at payment. I’d avoid it; it doesn’t seem very serious.
