Chateau la Rochette

The gardens around Châteu La Rochette were huge and beautifully kept, and we rested better than we had in a long time in the comfortable, nicely decorated rooms. The dining room was lovely too. Ina and Uwe were so warm and attentive as hosts. Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh coffee and cheese from local farmers. We had an amazing, restful stay in such a beautiful setting and will recommend it to friends traveling to France.

The views from the windows stretch across the parkland down to the river, with nothing in the way. The rooms feel authentic and beautiful, and have every convenience. The hosts are friendly and very attentive. Breakfast has so much choice that we lingered at the table. It’s close to picturesque villages and towns, and bikes are free for guests. We rode to Bourdeilles and back, which was beautiful. This was our third visit, and we’ve booked another stay soon.

The caring, kind owners made us feel like part of their family, and that really added to our stay. My girlfriend and I spent a little over two weeks in this wonderful castle, enjoying warm summer days away from the stress of the big city. The antique feel and tasteful, elegant furnishings are lovely. We switched our phones to flight mode and wandered through the tiny nearby villages and their small marketplaces. We even drove 2.5 hours to the Atlantic Ocean for a day trip, and it was definitely worth it. This place feels magical and brings real peace of mind to anyone looking for a proper break.
