Jacky and Evan are the nicest hosts we’ve ever met. The place is lovely and quiet, the rooms clean, and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was great, and if you ask, they’ll get you anything you need. They speak perfect English for anyone who doesn’t speak French. We arrived with our dog, motorbikes on a trailer, and a car. The dog played with their dogs all day. They let us park the car and trailer on the property, and even offered a safe overnight spot for the bikes in their barn. Just nothing less than perfect.

We stayed with Jenny and Chris on our way from Spain to the UK. I’m ex-military and have always been fascinated by the two world wars. We’ve spent years touring the Somme and Ypres, and this time wanted to see the Normandy landing beaches. Their beautiful, characterful farmhouse feels like an extension of their charm. It’s out in the French countryside but still within easy reach of all the D Day landing beaches, especially Aromanches, and the Bayeux Tapestry. Jenny and Chris were so welcoming and personable. Breakfast was a wonderful continental spread with homemade extras, including Jenny’s savoury muffins and homemade marmalade. Chris knows an astonishing amount about D Day, and gave us excellent itineraries and plenty of local knowledge. We were their last guests of the season, but they made us feel as welcome as if we’d been the first. We enjoyed their company over a glass of wine each evening, along with some dubious local brews Chris had provided. If you’re touring the D Day landing beaches in Normandy, this is a perfect place to stay.
