Villa Escandorgue

We spent almost a week here again, just like last year, and this gem in the Languedoc gets a fan-tas-tic 11/10 from us. The hosts are warm, Marc adapts breakfast to your needs, and this year he added more variety each day after our suggestion last year that longer stays could use it. Breakfast is excellent and generous. Marc shares loads of background and practical tips, but isn’t intrusive, and Philippe fixes things in a flash. There’s only one room at Villa Escandorgue, so the terrace and large pool feel like they’re all yours. The room is large, with a lovely bathroom, excellent bed and shower, and a fridge stocked with everything and free to use. It has air conditioning, mosquito netting, coffee and tea, and a cupboard full of information about the region. It’s a perfect base for hiking, pretty French villages like Montpeyroux, St-Guilhem, Mourèze, Villeneuvette and others, viewpoints at Navacelles and Lac du Salagou, charming terraces, and the trendy nearby city of Montpellier with its beautiful beaches.

Marc was attentive and had lots of useful advice about local visits and restaurants. Breakfast was generous and good quality, and the swimming pool is beautiful and large. The place was very clean, with careful decor and a great location. It had absolutely everything we could need, from tea, coffee, a kettle and madeleines to white bathrobes, slippers, cotton buds and eau de toilette. What more can I say?

Our hosts were so friendly and always made sure we were happy. The place was exceptional, and the stay combined simplicity with refinement. We’ll be delighted to return. Hubert and Marie-Françoise

There weren’t many decent restaurants in Lodève that evening, so our hosts drove us 40 km from their home to have dinner. We shared a delicious meal and a lovely evening with them. Such a warm welcome. Thank you again.
