Our three-year-old was in his element here. He got to ride a pony nearly every day, pet the rabbits, see the foal and chickens, and watch families set off in horse-drawn carriages for trips lasting anywhere from an hour to a week. We live in town, so being around all those animals was a real treat. The family run Le Sillet with so much care. They work smoothly together, and you can tell they put their hearts into the place. The dining room felt warm and welcoming, the service was great, and the evening meals were very good. Breakfast was good value, with ripe fruit every day. I especially liked the plain yogurt, apple purée and coffee. We would have preferred brown bread or croissants to white bread, but that was our only food complaint. We knew the bathroom was shared when we booked. It was clean and did the job. The soap dispenser by the sink near the entrance to the ladies’ bathroom upstairs could use a refill and a fix so it doesn’t drip. Thank you, Le Sillet, for a lovely stay and for all your warmth, kindness, creativity and openness. We’ll definitely come back.

The stay itself was fine, but looking back, I still feel awful about how it began. We’d worked hard and saved for our first holiday, then our payment was accidentally charged twice and we never got the money back. The owners seemed friendly with French guests, though I didn’t feel very welcome. They weren’t openly unfriendly, and only the older woman asked whether we’d enjoyed the meal and our stay. Maybe the place suits locals more. I know they work hard, and perhaps the business had a tough time after Covid. We’re hardworking too, and had only hoped for a nice start to our holiday. I’m just sad about what happened.

We stayed two nights with half board. The inn is charming, has plenty of room for guests, and sits close to some wonderful places to visit. Our accessible room was huge, with space for up to five people, and easy to use with reduced mobility or a wheelchair. The bathroom was very large too and met accessibility standards. Breakfasts were a pleasure, especially the excellent fresh bread. Dinner was generous and delicious, made with local products. If you love nature and quiet, this is a lovely place to stay. Pick up a book and settle on a bench under the linden tree. Thanks for your hospitality. We’ll be back! 😊
