Ibis Styles Domaine de Beauregard

We arrived at 8.50pm after a long drive and were told the restaurant was full. That was all the explanation we got. It seemed odd that hotel guests couldn’t be seated, especially on a warm evening when they could have served people outside. We ended up having McDonald's delivered to the car park. Very classy. The building is an ugly concrete block attached to an old chateau, just off the main road in a half-developed, rather abandoned industrial park. There’s no reason for any pretension. The small, basic bedrooms had taps placed too close to the back of the sink, and I found the water very strange, presumably because the hotel has a softener. I wouldn’t stay again. I’d try another Ibis Styles or Novotel.

Getting here from the motorway network was very easy. Inside, the hotel looked lovely and was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant food was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly from the moment we came through the door.

The beds were very comfortable, and the interior design and friendly atmosphere made a nice impression. Breakfast was pleasant, though nothing special. One annoyance was the coffee machine: it wouldn’t fit a tall cup or thermo mug. I poured the coffee from a regular cup into my thermo mug and spilled some. A staff member pointed out the mess, which I cleaned up myself. It would’ve been helpful if they’d offered to help or suggested another option, like a jug.

We were breaking up a long drive and this turned out to be just the stop we wanted. Our one-night family room was over 90m², so we had loads of space in the beautiful historic building. We had a good dinner at the restaurant, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. We had a great time.
