I’ve camped all over Europe and never been met with an attitude this awful. At the cafe, they wouldn’t let my daughter use the toilets or even wash ice cream off her hands, so we had to walk a long way to public toilets. I asked if we could look at the campsite before coming back with our camper to stay. The answer was no, we had to arrive with the camper, pay, and only then could we enter. The woman at reception was so aggressive and rude that we ended up in a big argument. The pitches are tiny and packed close together, and the cafe is expensive. A large woman in the cafe was coughing all over the food. The place feels soulless and ugly, like you’d expect from a big company. There are much better and better-value campsites and cafes nearby. It’s beside a lake, but you can’t really swim there. Lake Guerledan or Lac au Duc are much nicer and friendlier, and the sites in Kerfourn and Naizin are better. Horrible place, don’t go.

The pitches are spacious and flat, with a lovely view over the lake, and the cycle paths are good. It could be a wonderful site, but the facilities let it down. The taps make filling a motorhome with water a nightmare: none take a hose, and you have to hold down the button while water trickles at very low pressure into a watering can. There’s no toilet paper or toilet seats either. The site is about a 30-minute walk from town. There’s a snack bar, but it didn’t open until 7/5, and the bar shuts at 7pm. There’s no shop, not even for milk. I’d only want to stay one night. These are issues that should be easy to fix. I’ve seen better facilities at Aires charging much less. Such a shame.

The pitches are usually a decent size, but it was disappointing to see caravans and motorhomes placed on the green space. There was a big event on and some pitches had two or three units on them. The electricity kept cutting out across the whole camp, which may have been because of the overcrowding. There were no toilet seats or paper, and I would expect seats at a three-star campsite. The showers are very high, including the disabled one, and you can’t adjust their height or temperature. A couple of evenings there was no hot water, and although they started clean, they got rather grubby by the end of the week. The cold water taps are hard to use too. There’s a small, clean pool that’s handy and open in July and August. There’s no shop nearby, but you can preorder bread for collection from 9am. The site could be improved with a few simple fixes.

We only strolled around the park and lake, but the autumn scenery was beautiful. There were goats and even geese, plus some interesting mushrooms growing.

The site is well kept. My only gripe is the showers, which are open to the outside air. That might be fine in high summer, but it was cold last night and the shower area was really chilly.
