Hotel Panorama

The room was roomy and had a hairdryer, and the hotel is only a few steps from the Sanctuary, its clearest advantage. But the beds were basic, with thin mattresses and just a fitted sheet, and the towels were thin too. For a four-star hotel, the comfort and quality fell short. Breakfast needs work as well. The coffee was poor, and the limited spread was mostly bread, ham, cheese, and fruit that didn’t seem very fresh. At this price, I expected more. Other Lourdes hotels in a similar range offer better quality, facilities, and breakfast, so this one feels overpriced.

The location is lovely, only a five-minute walk to the Basilica where pilgrims go. Maybe that’s why they don’t leave mineral water in the room, since you can fill your own bottles there and drink as much as you like. Our room was small but warm, with a good bed, and the bathroom and toilet were clean. The downside was the noise through the walls. We could hear people walking, flushing toilets, and even a couple making love, with a regular “Kreot Kreot Kreot” sound 🤣 The receptionist on 26 December 2025, from southern France near Spain, was really helpful and a lovely young woman. I hope my daughter-in-law is like her 🥰 Breakfast and dinner were awful, and exactly the same every day. Maybe the cook could make the menu with their eyes closed 🤔

The cafe next door had a dark-haired staff member who was rude, impatient, and offensive. In the room, the shower was slippery and uneven, with the tub floor about 16 cm above the bathroom floor. The water kept swinging from ice cold to scalding.

The location is convenient, close to the Sanctuary, and the room itself was decent, though the stained carpets need cleaning. It didn’t feel like a four-star hotel, more like three, and service could be better. The receptionists were friendly at check-in and checkout, but otherwise seemed to hide when we passed. The room was too hot and we couldn’t adjust the temperature. We were told to open the window, but there was dusty work going on outside and we couldn’t stop sneezing. When we asked for a fan, they said to buy one from the shop that opened at 9 am, though we needed it that night. We eventually got a fan from reception the next day after the shift changed. We also had a baby with us, but no cot had been set up.
