Camping Les Escales

The pitches are nicely tucked away, and the restaurant on site is really good. I’ve stopped here five times now, and the owner has always been friendly and helpful. It’ll stay my overnight stop whenever I’m passing through.

The washrooms and shared spaces were basic but clean, and the laundry and drying facilities were very reasonably priced. We picked this campsite as a base for visiting Rouen, and it worked out very well. Our pitch was clearly marked, grassy and shaded, with enough privacy to feel comfortable. It was peaceful at night, too. The staff were quick to help and very friendly, and we felt we got good value for the money.

We found the bungalow well equipped, and the restaurant and reception service were excellent. The setting was quiet and well located. Just remember to bring your own sheets; the pool is only open in summer. Good value for the price.

The washroom block needs the most attention. There was no toilet paper or toilet seats, and it smelled of stagnant water. The toilet area was reasonably clean, but overdue for an update. The pool also stays closed until July 6th. We stopped for a couple of nights on our way home. The pitches sit among trees, so you can get shade, and it was peaceful with birds chirping. The little restaurant has a simple menu, but the food was well cooked and presented. I ordered my steak rare and got it rare, bleu in French, so I had no complaints.
