ibis Chartres Ouest Luce

We'd been driving for 10 hours and wanted to check in and unwind over dinner. The restaurant was the main reason we chose this hotel, so finding out at check-in that it was closed was bitterly disappointing. The booking information had led us to expect it would be open. If we'd known, we would have picked somewhere else. Instead, we'd have to walk or drive to find food, which wasn't what we wanted after that long drive. The hotel description gave conflicting opening information when we checked again. One page said it was open EVERY day, another said it was closed Sunday and Monday, and a third listed Fridays and Saturdays as closed. I was also offered a two-course dinner for 36 euros while booking. If I had selected it, I wonder what would have happened to the money when the restaurant and kitchen were shut. The room was clean, and both the room and bed were comfortable. Still, given all of this, I doubt we'll stay here again.

No elevator, which was the one bummer. We really enjoyed staying here, though. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are reasonable. Breakfast was great, including small gluten-free bread products they cook to order, served hot and really delicious.

The staff were helpful throughout, and when my French failed me, they switched to English. We were stopping overnight on our way back to England. The room worked for our needs and the bed was very comfortable. We ate at the restaurant, where the meals had a good range of choices at reasonable prices. Breakfast was a buffet with a good assortment of continental options.

The location is convenient, and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. A few things in the room needed attention: the sink leaked, so we put the bin underneath, some wires were exposed on a light fitting, and the TV remote batteries were dead. It was fine for an overnight stop, and I'd stay again. We've been before and never had these kinds of problems on earlier visits.
