Villa des Capucins

The owner listened in on our conversations, with no discretion at all, and the owners were quite threatening when we left, without even apologizing. The place was dirty and badly maintained, with dead insects in the bathroom and no cleaning before or during our stay. Breakfast was disgusting, with moldy ham and stale food that killed our appetite first thing in the morning. A disastrous stay. Run away!

The insulation was awful. When we complained that we were cold, the owner said, “The cold preserves us and we really need it.” The guest rooms are run-down, and the owners are intrusive and unpleasant. A shame. I hold the guesthouse community in high regard, but this place brings it shame. Avoid it at all costs.

The breakfast was included, but it was horrible: expired food, poorly closed Auchan yogurts, stale cereal, extremely sour orange juice, and day-old bread gone hard. We slept very badly too, with a barely secured, smelly bed, a faulty toilet flush, a broken TV, dead flies on the floor, and cobwebs everywhere. We stayed two nights in the “Villa” des Capucins, then cut the stay short because of all the problems. It didn’t meet any accessibility standards, and the taped-on rope handrail nearly made me fall. Despite my injury, the owners were horrible and wouldn’t help me upstairs. The host even listened at the doors. The owner threw us out for complaining, and she was spiteful and very rude, as was her husband. What a rip-off. We’d have been much better off in a cheap Ibis-type hotel. Absolutely avoid it!

The room was spacious and had an anteroom, and the building was magnificent, with a history. We got a warm welcome from the owner. Breakfast was very good, and the place is close to the center.
