Appart’City Classic Lyon Vaise St Cyr

We were left in the lobby for about an hour, worried we might have nowhere to sleep, because nobody had sent us the after-hours lockbox code. We called several numbers and messaged through the booking platform, but got no reply. One person finally answered the phone and then hung up on us. When another guest arrived, they opened the lockbox for us. The whole experience came down to terrible communication and service. The beds and sheets were poor quality, and the entire floor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

With reception shutting at 21:00, we had no way to sort out the many problems in our room. The heating didn’t work, and the bathroom was a joke, with no steady hot water. It was unclear how many beds we’d get, so three of us ended up in a room really meant for two, without spare blankets. We were cold and uncomfortable. We spent as much time out enjoying Lyon as we could, but the stay was truly awful, especially at over 300 euros for two nights during the light festival. I wouldn’t pay even 20 for this.

I’m staying here as a student because they rent out studios, but my room has cockroaches and the promised Wi-Fi still doesn’t work. The stove was broken too. After a month, they gave me a camping stove instead of fixing it. I’ve sent repeated emails and complained at reception, but the internet is still down and there are still cockroaches. Stay away.

At 90 EUR a night, the price felt really high for a room that was so dirty and smelly. They didn’t clean it between days, and I came away feeling like I’d been tricked. I don’t think I have high standards, but this was one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed.
