Appart'hôtel Odalys City - Lyon Centre Confluence

The room was lovely, and there was a fan even though it had no A/C, which is really needed in summer. We called early that morning to reserve parking, and it was ready when we arrived. The heated pool area was nice, a little small, but when we went around 9pm there were only two other people in it. The elevators weren’t working at all, and we had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs from the 5th floor. The lovely woman at reception waived that night’s parking fee to make up for the broken elevator. Thanks!

The room was cramped, and the little kitchenette seemed like a flimsy excuse to call this an “apart-hotel” and skip daily cleaning. The “low emission” label also seems to mean no air-conditioning. Lyon had a canicule during our stay, and the heat inside was stifling. We slept badly, with only a small, noisy fan for relief, and it barely moved the air. A few homeless people were sleeping rough by the entrance. I really felt for them. If it was hard to bear the heat indoors, it must have been unbearable for them outside. All in all, not a great stay. I’d avoid it.

It was easy to reach the underground parking by car, and the area around Odalys Appart'Hotel is calm and looks nice. The room was clean and comfortable, though it got pretty hot without air-conditioning. They do provide a small fan. The heated pool is fine for a quick dip, and the Confluence shopping center and riverside walk are close by.

Breakfast was decent value, and there isn't much else to choose from within a 15-minute walk. The reception staff were friendly, and the room seemed recently renovated and was clean. But the junior suite is too cramped for two adults and two kids. You have to climb over the folding sofa to get to the other side. The place feels dusty and worn, inside and out, despite looking modern. Unless you specifically want to stay in Confluence, the location isn't great. It takes about 40 minutes by tram and metro to reach the old town. At first glance, the area seemed a bit shady, with people sleeping in tents outside, around the tram stop, and on the way to the metro. We walked through, though, and it was fine. I'd only consider it if I needed to be in Confluence and found a great deal. Otherwise, no.
