Hostel Lyon Centre

For budget travelers spending a few days in Lyon, this was good value and had a nice social feel. The staff were friendly, and the common spaces felt relaxed. I liked the terrace for sitting in the evening, and the beds were comfortable enough for a hostel. Having a light and charging point beside the bed was useful too. It’s up a hill near the old town, so the area is peaceful and the views are lovely. You can walk to a lot of attractions if you enjoy getting around on foot. The uphill trek can be tiring with heavy luggage, though, and depending on your room, the bathrooms and storage may feel basic.

We stayed at the start of December and had a wonderful time. The view is probably the best you can get from a hostel in Lyon at this price. Steve and Selim were so welcoming and made us feel at home, and the rest of the staff were amazing and helpful too. Breakfast and booze are extremely reasonably priced. The kitchen is a little subpar, but honestly, if you’re cooking at a hostel, you’re a bit of a nob.

The guests could show a little more empathy and do their part to keep the hostel clean. The staff work really hard to make people happy, even when they’re overloaded, and they always keep smiling. I want to acknowledge them for that.

There’s a peaceful terrace with an incredible view across Lyon, and drinks at the bar were cheap. The staff were super nice and the whole place had a friendly feel. One worker, I think his name was Selim (?), was especially awesome. A great spot for meeting people and exploring this lovely city.
