Ibis Budget Lyon Confluence

The room was spotless, and the chambermaids were lovely. It was tiny, as you'd expect for the price, but even though we were beside the road we didn't hear a thing. Breakfast was good and regularly replenished. We picked the hotel because it was cheap and ended up having a great stay.

The one good thing was the candy jar at reception. There were a lot of problems otherwise: the soundproofing was poor, with banging doors all night and people in the next room talking clearly audible. Water pressure and temperature were both unreliable. The shower wand holder sat at chest level, so you'd have to hold the wand over your head yourself. The soap was a 3 in 1 that left your hair really greasy, and there wasn't a hair dryer. It also wasn't very clean: one of our sheets had a stain, and the chair hadn't been cleaned either.

The service was great from the moment I checked in until I left. The hotel was spotless and nicely renovated, and the price felt amazing for that level of quality.

I came to France for the first time after visiting India, Singapore, and Malaysia, and it was my first trip to Europe too. The service here was the best I've had. Staff spoke good English, cleaned the room every day, and dealt with anything broken or not working within minutes, either fixing it right away or moving me to another room. If you're going to Lyon, I definitely recommend this hotel.
