The apartment looks like somewhere out of a film, and the view stretches across the huge garden to the Sâone. The host was kind and helpful.

La Laurentine feels like a peaceful escape right in the city. From the shaded terraces, you can sit and look out calmly over the banks of the Saône. The owner is welcoming, and the location makes for a pleasant stay. It leaves you wanting to come back.

We asked for a room for one night, but the owner said they were all occupied, even though rooms still showed as available online on Expedia and elsewhere. She then said she didn't want to rent one for just a single night. It felt very unpleasant.

A very warm welcome, and the gîtes have a lovely view over Lyon.
