Lyo Hôtel

The hotel was under construction, so there was no breakfast. Guests were directed to a nearby hotel, where breakfast cost 17 euros separately and was served from 6:30 to 9:00 am. Be aware of that. I stayed one night and spent 16 hours trying to get an invoice with my name and room number. They printed it eight times, each time with either the wrong room number or my name mistyped. I waited calmly, but by the end the receptionist was frustrated with me, even though all I’d done was ask for an invoice. One of the worst hotel service experiences I’ve had. I’ll never come back.

For a 2 star hotel, it was decent enough. We stayed 4 days and 3 nights, and the room was okay, though a little cramped but manageable. The location worked well for us, with Perrache Station just a 3 minute walk away and the Rhône lake also about 3 minutes away. There wasn’t a safe in the room, so we had to leave our keys at reception whenever we went out. That wasn’t much trouble since reception was always there, and you can ask them to store valuables in their safe. Manon was the most hospitable receptionist during our stay, always welcoming us with a smile. She and David also kept our laptop in the safe when we went out. The woman of color came across as a bit cold for a receptionist. She didn’t know where the safe was and shoved our laptop into the cashier cabinet instead. Maybe she was new or misinformed, which is understandable, but in a customer-facing job you need to be accommodating, attentive, and at least smile.

I booked the wrong date and called the hotel. They understood my situation, and the manager was willing to cancel and refund that date. I felt bad about asking, but I really appreciate the service. Thank you again, Lyo hotel.

A fantastic stay in a boutique hotel in the best location. The basic room was clean and comfortable, though the roof was unfriendly to tall people, thankfully I’m not too tall. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone, just leave a room for me!
