The restaurant had a trendy feel, an impressive kitchen, and really good food for the price. Staff were friendly and patient with my very broken French. I spent two nights at Mama Shelter, a great first stop on my vacation. The rooms were simple and clean, with excellent showers and comfortable beds. After a long flight, the soundproof windows, blackout curtains, and air conditioning made it easy to settle in. It's a good option for English-speaking visitors.

We could walk to most places from Mama Shelter Lyon, with buses, the metro, and a tram stop nearby too. Cafes, bars, and restaurants were close, and the area was decent. Our room was pleasant and quiet, and the hotel staff were great. We really enjoyed our stay.

For 350 euros, I expected at least a bottle of water, but there wasn't one. The room also had no ironing board, kettle, or way to make tea or coffee. It was too warm for me, and I couldn't turn the temperature down.

I've had great stays at Mama Shelter Dijon and Mama Shelter Shoreditch, and I'm usually a big fan of the chain. This location didn't meet the same standard for me. The neighborhood right around it felt unsafe, and inside, the hotel came across more like a budget hostel than the fun, welcoming place I expect from Mama Shelter. I still like the brand, but I wouldn't stay at this one again.
