OKKO Hotels Lyon Centre

I’ve spent three weeks in France, including two weeks at your hotels in Toulon and Lyon. My family and I especially appreciated the Lyon team, and Allison in particular. She was the person we saw most often, and she was hardworking, professional, and accommodating throughout. We changed rooms, asked questions, and sometimes acted like typical Americans, but she remained genuinely welcoming. I worked for three years at Marriott Corporate as a Learning and Development Director, helping develop hotel training programs, so I know how demanding hospitality work can be and how much consistency, resilience, and emotional intelligence good service takes. I watched Allison handle everyday requests and one especially difficult guest with calm, professionalism, and integrity. She represents the kind of service that good training aims to build, and the Lyon team clearly does a wonderful job. The location is excellent and made it easy to get around quickly. Service was excellent too, though breakfast was average. The room had a Nespresso machine that seemed more decorative than useful, and you had to go down to the lobby for ice. There’s coffee, juice, snacks, and ice in the lobby 24/7, while water comes from a shared station on each floor. The bathroom layout was a little odd, since you had to pass through the shower to reach it, though that’s understandable in a preserved historic building downtown. Everything else was fine, apart from the lack of a bathrobe and in-room fridge, which don’t seem to be considered luxuries in France.

I work remotely, and this is a great place to stay. The downstairs lounge is phenomenal. The rooms are smaller, but have a cute view, and the shared spaces more than make up for the size. Melanie was amazing and helped get our luggage upstairs when we were in a pinch with the car downstairs.

The staff made our stay, always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We also enjoyed the calm ground-floor lounge, with plenty of places to sit. The hotel is on the Rhône side, so it feels removed from the busy streets, but it’s only a relaxed five-minute walk across the river to fashion shops and restaurants. Cross the Saône and there are lots of places to eat and drink, too. There’s a free club service with tea, coffee, pastries, and savory snacks available around the clock. Breakfast costs €20 a day and includes both continental and English options. The gym has free weights, a treadmill, bikes, a step machine, mats, and kettlebells. I’d happily recommend this hotel, and we’d stay here again if we return to Lyon. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful visit.
