6/10
We found the space good, the location excellent and very convenient, and the cleanliness acceptable. Our stay was pleasant apart from one serious letdown: on April 4th, the receptionist, a blonde woman, was rude and unfriendly and seemed to be in a bad mood. The service fell well short of what we expected from the establishment. This sort of behavior should be dealt with because it has a real effect on guests’ experience.

We paid a great price for what we got, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating, especially when train delays meant we had to stay longer than planned. The room was roomy, and both the bed and couch were really comfortable. My only complaint is the shower wand: unless you’re careful with it, water ends up all over the bathroom floor. Best value in Lyon!

Breakfast at 07:00 was enough. The room on the 8th floor, though, was very warm, and the AC didn’t work as expected. Opening the windows helped more. There was also a dusty or odd smell in the room. A bit pricey overall.

The room’s layout was awkward with two large suitcases, so we had to move furniture around. The bathroom is cramped, and the shower cubicle seems made to soak the floor. It’s reasonably placed for TGV access, though Metro access is less convenient. There aren’t cafes nearby for breakfast or good dinner restaurants. Footpath replacement work is going on right now, making walks through an already strangely sterile area even less pleasant. That isn’t the hotel’s doing, but it still affects a visitor’s stay. I’d recommend avoiding Lyon until they’re done tearing up the place.

It had everything I needed: comfortable, easy to get to, good value, and in a good location. The staff were helpful too.
