SLO Living Hostel

I liked that there was a lounge to work in, decent internet, and free snacks and coffee. But sleep was the big issue for me, and after two nights I didn’t feel rested enough to come back. The room didn’t smell very fresh either, and the neighborhood wasn’t very pleasant. I stayed two nights in the shared area with the girls, and it was noisy both times. The beds and room offer no real protection from outside noise. After midnight on the first night, someone kept slamming the hallway door and woke everyone in our room. The next night, a guest was speaking loudly on the phone in the hallway past midnight, so I had to ask them to lower their voice. Quiet matters a lot in a hostel like this. I hope they consider how to make the place better soundproofed.

The beds were clean and comfortable, and the washrooms were well looked after. Staff were pleasant and knew their stuff. It was a nice place to get away from the city's hustle and bustle, and I’d definitely stay again when I’m in Lyon.

The staff were the best part, helpful and kind, and the facilities were decent. It’s a basic hostel, though, and there are no curtains on the beds or air conditioning or fans. If your roommates like a hot room, it can be rough. Adding curtains would be a cheap, easy improvement.

The hostel service was very good, and when the bathrooms got really filthy, it was sorted out quickly. Breakfast was nothing special, but things were okay overall. I picked a mixed room and found the people I shared with extremely weird. I guess that’s the kind of crowd you get in hostels, and it didn’t bother me that much.
